Head injuries, uncontrollable bleeding, or difficulty breathing warrant immediate emergency room care, followed by a dental appointment.

What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?
Keep the tooth moist and get to us right away. Pick it up by the crown, not the root, rinse it gently if it is dirty, and place it in milk or salt water. Do not scrub it or let it dry out. Can I get a same-day emergency dental appointment?
Yes, we hold time for same-day emergency appointments at our West Hollywood office. Call (310) 855-2434 as early in the day as you can and describe what is happening, and our front desk will find you the soonest opening. We are open Monday through Friday, and weekend visits are available by appointment.
Is a dental emergency covered by insurance, and what will it cost?
Most PPO plans cover emergency exams and X-rays, though what you pay depends on your plan and the treatment you end up needing. We verify your benefits and give you a written estimate before we begin anything beyond the exam. How long will I have to wait to be seen for tooth pain?
We aim to see urgent pain the same day, often within a few hours of your call. Once you arrive we do a full exam and digital X-rays, then explain the treatment plan step by step before starting. Severe pain with swelling usually needs attention within 24 to 48 hours, so please do not wait it out at home.
When should I go to the emergency room instead of the dentist?
Go to the emergency room first for a head injury, bleeding you cannot control, severe facial swelling, a high fever, or any trouble breathing or swallowing. Those need medical care before dental care. Once you have been treated, call us and we will handle the dental side. For pain, a cracked tooth, an abscess, or a lost filling, come straight to us.
